Email set up, for your web hosting account. We offer both POP3 and SMTP e-mail, so you have a real e-mail server to use at your site, and not just a forward going to your ISP mail account.
All sites at the time they are set up, have a default, (Catch All) e-mail account. This way, anything that is addressed to your domain will go into your catch all account. The default e-mail account is can keep you from needing to set up a bunch of separate e-mail accounts, however, I do not recommend using it. It is much nicer to have individual POP3 e-mail accounts for several reasons.
Once you have owned your domain for a while, the spammers search out and find domains to send their junk to. They do not always use your real e-mail address, but use things like 123@yourdomain.com or user@yourdomain.com, etc... Your catch all / default e-mail account will collect any e-mail not sent to a specific e-mail address at your domain. This is what they are hoping for.
I have found that by making individual POP3 mail boxes, and not using my catch all box, that we receive much less spam. I have set my default e-mail address to delete any e-mail that is not sent to a real e-mail address. I will show you how, in just a little while.
E-mail is too big for just one page. I have broken down into sections a set of instructions, helpful hints, and little tutorials, to help you understand our e-mail system, and how fast and easy it is to create and manage your own e-mail accounts.
To understand best how to manage your e-mail accounts, you should log into your control panel in a separate window, and click on the mail manager link. The sections below correspond to each section there.
