Dns or Domain Name Servers, is not hard to understand from the web hosting clients point of view.
Basically, the domain name servers tell the home computer users PC, what web hosting server your web site is on. So, when you buy your domain, or when you change to a new host, you will need to set your name servers to the ones your host tells you to use. This is usually a simple process done at your registry site that you bought the domain name at.
Once you set the DNS to the correct web hosting domain name servers, the site will start working in your browser within the next 72 hours. Usually within 24 hours.
Your domain name servers were sent to you in your welcome e-mail. If you log into your domain registry site and can't figure out how to change your name servers to the ones we sent you, please do not hesitate to ask for help. E-mail admin@superior-host.com or call our office during the day, to get help getting it set correctly. We will be glad to help.
Some of you may choose to leave your registries name servers listed on your domain information, and simply point or redirect to your sites IP numbers. Some registries will point to your sites IP in their redirection service. Usually this is for an additional charge from the registry, and there is not much point in doing it. Some people just prefer to do it that way, and it is perfectly fine to do so. After all, it is your web hosting account.
